Christina George

President

Christina started dancing at the age of 7 at the StarMaker School in Flemington, New Jersey. At age 8, she joined the studio’s competitive program, The Entertainers Baton & Dance Company, and competed all over NJ, PA, and NY in jazz, lyrical, acro, pom, hip hop, baton twirling, and ballet where she earned multiple state, regional, and national titles. In 2010, Christina became a member of the East Carolina University Dance Team. At ECU, she was captain, letter winner, and NDA Collegiate All-American. The ECU Dance Team competed at NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL where the team finished in the top 5 of Division IA Team Performance. After spending some time working in sports for the NFL, Minor League Baseball, and college athletics, Christina accepted the position of Head Coach of the Loyola University Maryland Dance Team in 2015, and continues to coach the team currently. In 2017, Christina graduated from Georgetown University's Masters in Sports Management program in the hopes of continuing to foster her passion for the business of sports and dance. She is also a Primary member and active volunteer of the National Dance Coaches Association, as well as a certified judge for UDA and NDA.

Nadine Gregoire

Secretary

Nadine Gregoire has been involved with competitive dance for over 20 years. Trained in jazz and modern dance, Nadine was a member of the Eleanor Roosevelt High School Pom team, winners of the 1999 MD State Pom Championships. She started her coaching career in all-star dance with her teams winning several national titles. Nadine then moved on to coach the Springbrook High School Pom team, leading them to become the 2009 Montgomery County Division III Champions. Nadine then went back to her alma mater Eleanor Roosevelt High School and led the pom team to several awards. Most recently, Nadine was the head coach of Catholic University's Dance Team in Washington, DC. Currently, Nadine serves as a dance competition judge which she has done for over 5 years.

Teri Turnbull

Treasurer

After spending several years involved in Varsity Cheer, Teri found her true love- dance.  Her early years were spent as a member of African dance and West Indian cultural dance troupes.  In the last  ten years, Teri has been a member of coaching staffs at Springbrook, Seneca Valley and Clarksburg High School Poms programs in Montgomery County.  By joining like minded dance professionals in founding MSDTA,  she shares their vision that this organization will fill a void. By uniting all high school dance programs in Maryland under one umbrella,  Teri hopes that her work with MSDTA will provide coaches with the resources to take their programs to the next level of achievement and help to prepare athletes to extend their dance careers  beyond high school.

Shaneil Turnbull

executive director

Shaneil Turnbull's passion for competitive dance was ignited when she became a member of her high school Pom Squad at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. During her time on the squad, the team won multiple county and state championships as well as several bids to the UDA National High School Championships in Orlando, Florida. For the past 12 seasons, Shaneil has been coaching high school Pom squads in Montgomery County. She spent time coaching at both Springbrook HS and Seneca Valley HS before accepting her current role as Head Coach at Clarksburg HS in 2018. Throughout her decade of coaching, a number of her teams have accomplished top 3 finishes at the Montgomery County Championships. Shaneil has previously served as a consultant for high school and collegiate level dance teams and high school Cheer teams. She has also judged for a number of local competitions for the past 4 years.  Through the MSDTA, Shaneil is excited to unify and elevate the sport of dance in the state of Maryland.

Alexa Blanchard

operations director

Alexa has 25 years of dance experience anchored by her classical ballet training at the Washington School of Ballet in DC. She then joined her high school’s dance team in Montgomery County, MD where she helped lead the team to multiple county-wide wins as a captain. Alexa graduated from Wake Forest University in 2015 with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Neuroscience.  While at WFU, she was a 4-yr member and senior captain of the Wake Forest Dance Team and 4-yr member of the WFU Dance Company. Alexa traveled with the football team for two years, performing across the country at other ACC schools including Clemson, West Point, Notre Dame, Miami University, and Florida State.​  In 2015, Alexa joined the athletics staff at her alma mater as the head coach of the Walt Whitman High School Poms Team in Bethesda, MD. Over her five-year tenure, the team won three annual county-wide championships, multiple invitational competitions, and moved from competing in Division III to Division I in 5 years. Her high school dancers have gone on to dance at Hampton University, Duke, University of Delaware, and Boston University. During this time, Alexa also began her medical school training and concurrently started coaching the Loyola Dance Team. Alexa is currently is a graduate student at the University of Maryland School of Medicine
